Sample Trip Itinerary
(subject to change due to factors such as lodging availability, restaurant availability and ferry schedules)
Day 1 - Kayak along the West side of San Juan Island to Stuart Island OR Kayak along the East side of San Juan Island to Jones Island
Depending on weather, currents, and skill level, your guide will decide between the two following options:
Today we will paddle along the west side of San Juan Island heading north. Tide and wind conditions we will determine our route either around the west side of Henry Island or through Mosquito Pass to Posey Island, where we will break for lunch. After lunch we cross Spieden Channel, taking a short break to admiring the exotic mammals that call Speiden Island home. Finally heading over to Stuart Island, our home for the night. Arriving at our campsite late in the afternoon we will spend some time setting up camp and relaxing while getting to know your fellow kayakers.
OR
Today we paddle the east side of San Juan Island, cross San Juan channel, and head to Jones Island. Arriving at our campsite late in the afternoon we will spend some time setting up camp and relaxing while getting to know your fellow kayakers.
Day 2 - Circumnavigate Stuart Island or Explore Wasp Islands from Jones Island
Today we may circumnavigate Stuart Island in search of orcas and eagles or take a picnic up to the Historic Lighthouse at the far Northwest point of the island. Either way, the day will be spent enjoying the beauty of the island and embracing some of the local color. Return to our camp in the evening, where your guides will prepare a delicious dinner for all to enjoy.
OR
Today is spent leisurely paddling through the Wasp Islands in search of seals and eagles. Enjoy lunch on Little McConnell Island and then head over to Yellow Island, an island owned by the Nature Conservancy, for a short walk through native habitat. Return to Jones Island for some more island exploring and a gourmet campsite dinner.
Day 3 - Kayak from Stuart Island to San Juan Island OR Kayak from Jones Island to Shaw Island & back to Friday Harbor
After a hot cup of coffee/tea and a delicious breakfast, we pack up our gear and head back to San Juan Island. During the paddle back we will follow the rocky shoreline in search of harbor seals and eagles, while keeping our eyes peeled for any whale sightings along the way. Lunch will be on a pebbled beach to refuel for a relaxing afternoon paddle home. The trip will end on San Juan Island in the mid afternoon, getting you back to Friday Harbor in time for the next leg of your journey.
OR
Today we cross San Juan Channel to Shaw Island and then continuing across to the shores of San Juan Island. We will stop for lunch on Turn Island before ending the kayak expedition on San Juan Island, returning to Friday Harbor by mid-afternoon.

We had an unforgettable experience with Crystal Seas! This trip was so special and we are beyond appreciative. Wallace was an amazing guide. He was kind, responsive, knowledgeable, very attentive and all of the food he made was just delicious. He was so thoughtful and worked so hard to make our trip an amazing one. We 1000% will go back. Also, Tim was wonderful on our first day/night where our two groups were together. Tim took us to an epic sunset spot and was just full of life and his joy was contagious.

Our trip was fantastic! We did a 3 day, 2-night kayak trip. Our guides were the absolute BEST! So thoughtful, patient, and knowledgeable. Make sure you ask for Gunner and Wallace. I LOVED the food! Truly appreciate the quality and freshness of the food and especially how a majority of it was local. The provided was in great shape and exactly what we needed. I would do it again and definitely recommend others.

The four (two couples in our late 50'/early 60's spent 5 days in the magnificent San Juans on bikes and sea kayaks with Tour Guide Sam Stewart, who was just terrific! We loved that he was a local and so proudly shared his knowledge and love of the islands with us. He was unfailingly polite, thoughtful, whip smart, respectful, a good driver and delightful company.
