Wet bald eagle in Madrona tree, San Juan Islands
Wet bald eagle in Madrona tree John Kossik Edmonds United StatesBald Eagles are frequently seen here in the San Juan Islands. Sometimes hunting for salmon; other times scavenging on marine life along the coastlines. They are also commonly seen perched on trees, soaring high above on thermals, or drying off ( like the eagle shown here ) after attempting to catch too heavy of a fish to fly with and having to "swim it" back to shore. If you'd like to experience seeing wildlife like this from a kayak tour of the San Juans; please join us on one of our San Juan Islands sea kayaking tours.
