3 Hour Tour
Our
guided three hour "Taste of Sea Kayaking" tours are
intended for those who have a lot to do in the
Bar
Harbor
/
Mount
Desert Island
area
and not a lot of time or would like to simply try out
sea kayaking in this kayakers’ paradise.
3 Hour Tour: These
kayak tours leave from our custom made finger slips on the
outskirts of
Bar
Harbor
looking out onto
Frenchman
Bay.
Here we will introduce you to kayaking, get you familiar
with and provide you with all of the necessary kayaking
equipment and give you an informative kayak/safety
lesson. Once we are all comfortable and ready we will launch
from our kayak docks onto the waters surrounding
Mount
Desert Island.
We will start our 5-6 mile roundtrip paddle by heading
into the Porcupine Islands. These islands are a wonderful spot for
viewing an abundant variety of wildlife. While on
the water your knowledgeable and friendly Maine
registered kayak guide/naturalist will educate you
about the surrounding region and wildlife while helping
you further improve your kayaking skills and making sure
you have a great time. On our way back you will
see panoramic views of Mount Desert Island with Cadillac
Mountain (1530 feet) towering above it all.
What to see: Bald
Eagles, Seals, Porpoises, Great Blue Herons, Osprey, Sea
Stars, forests of Firs and Spruce.
What
to bring: Layered clothing (T-shirt, sweatshirt, wind breaker or
an outer shell), long pants or shorts, sunglasses, sun
block, hat, lip balm, comfortable foot wear, water, a
small snack, camera (may possibly get wet) and a great
attitude.
No
experience necessary.
Tour
Times: 10:30a.m., 11:30a.m., 2:00p.m., 3:00p.m. & 6:00p.m.
